| Being named European Capital of Culture 2008 was arguably, the greatest day in Liverpool's recent history. Nearly 2 million extra visitors are expected to attend many of the festivals and events that will take place during the year so it's an honour for Mellor Coachcraft to be supplying vehicles to them.
Mellor Coachcraft has been working along side Liverpool City Council for over 15 years now in developing and transforming the specification for their buses. The Passenger Transport Service operates approximately 55 vehicles, which is an equal mix of coachbuilts and van conversions. The majority of these vehicles being a Mellor product and based on the Iris-bus Chassis cowl and Daily range.
Showcasing here are examples of additions to their fleet of Iris-bus 50-C-15 Euro 4, chassis cowls and plug door shell conversions. The specification consists of 8 single and 1 double Rescroft Defender III seats on Unwin springfoot mechanisms, Webasto heating system, power operated single leaf glider door, Ricon Clearway S2034 Lift. The windows are bronze tinted gasket glazed units and there are 2 lift up roof vents. There is also the benefit of a Brigade reversing camera.
Both base vehicles were supplied through Chatfields of Liverpool. John Carrington, Fleet and Transport Services Manager for the Council are delighted with the additional 15 coachbuilt and 8 conversions to the fleet.
Mellor will hopefully continue to work alongside Liverpool building on the foundations that have now been laid for its ongoing transformation into a world-class city.
